Junior SQL Server DBA – £26,000 to £30,000 DOE + Benefits – Remote, UK
The Role
Do you possess 1+ year’s DBA experience with administering Microsoft SQL Server in production environments? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you.
We are a market leader in the provision of database, server and application support, looking to appoint a Junior SQL Server DBA with excellent client-facing skills to join our expanding team. The successful candidate will be working across various customers, the job in its very nature will be incredibly diverse giving you exposure to various SQL Server features and environments, both on-prem and cloud-based.
This is a junior role, you will need to be enthusiastic and very willing to learn. you will be assigned a mentor to help & guide you. The company is serious about fostering talent and being the best in their field, investing heavily in training and staff development.
There will be access to further ongoing training via the Microsoft Certification Program and the opportunity for career progression and moving into other areas such as Business Intelligence, Cloud Computing, or SQL Development, as well as any other database engines you might be interested in.
Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of a Junior SQL Server DBA include, but are not limited to:
SQL Server Installations, Configuration, Upgrades, Migrations and Patching.
Backups & Restores.
Installing, Configuring and Supporting HA/DR Environments (AAG/Logshipping/Replication).
Performance Investigation and Tuning.
Azure Cloud Support (Azure VM, Managed Instance, SQL Database) .
Further ongoing training via the Microsoft Certification Program.

The Person
The key skills and qualities of a Junior SQL Server DBA:
Essential skills:
1+ year’s DBA experience with administering Microsoft SQL Server in production environments.
A good understanding of database maintenance operations, security configuration and basic trouble shooting skills.
Basic T-SQL skills, i.e., writing and executing queries.
Have excellent oral and written communications skills and be fluent in both written and spoken English.
Must be self-motivated and eager to learn.
Desirable skills:
Experience with SQL Server high availability features.
Experience of any other SQL Server components (e.g., Reporting Services, Integration Services).
Experience working within cloud environments (e.g., Azure, AWS).
Experience with any other database technologies.
