The role

WellData is seeking a motivated and talented Oracle DBA to join its team in supporting its ever-expanding customer base. The role is home based with travel to client sites as required, therefore candidates must be based in the UK. You should have at least 3 years’ experience, a can-do attitude and excellent client-facing skills.

You will be working across multiple customers, providing diversity in your work and giving you an opportunity to work with the latest Oracle features and environments, both on premise and in the cloud. On-going training for the successful candidate will be provided, WellData is extremely keen for all staff to undertake continuous career development and will support you in your learning throughout your career.

The key responsibilities of an Oracle DBA include, but are not limited to:

  • Proactive Oracle DBA Support for our clients
  • Prioritise faults and requests to meet customer demands and SLAs
  • Work within a quality management system
  • Documentation and recording of work
  • Attend client sites as required
  • Represent us in a technical role in discussion with clients
  • Carry out duties as directed by the IT manager
  • Participate in a 24/7 roster system
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience of the full Oracle lifecycle support.
  • Experience with all Oracle versions
  • Working knowledge of Oracle in a Windows/Linux/Solaris/Unix/virtual environment required.
  • At least 5 years Oracle DBA experience managing Oracle backups, performance tuning, and general maintenance.
  • Installation, configuration, and upgrades of Oracle databases.
  • Experience of working with MySQL and LAMP stack.
  • Experience of working with e-Business Suite.
  • Experience of working with Oracle OVM.
  • Experience of working with Linux Red Hat.
  • Experience working with and troubleshooting Oracle RAC databases required.
  • Experience working with Oracle Data Guard.
  • Experience with Oracle 12c container/pluggable databases, database encryption desirable.

The person

The key skills and qualities of an Oracle DBA are:

  • At least three years’ DBA experience of administering Oracle databases in 24/7 production environments; and experience with high availability and provisioning and configuring Oracle databases.
  • Confident with all aspects of Oracle security; and database maintenance, able to deploy, monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve database issues
  • Strong performance tuning and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, being fluent in written and spoken English
  • Understanding of and an ability to implement, internal system standards, procedures and services.
  • Ability to organize, prioritise, and manage multiple workloads and projects with minimal supervision
